Chair and Professor, Department of Pharmacology

The School of Pharmacy, University of Mississippi, seeks an individual to fill the position of Chair and Professor of the Department of Pharmacology.



Requirements:

Candidates must have a Ph.D. in pharmacology or a closely related field, a nationally-recognized research program (as evidenced by a distinguished publication record and recurrent as well as current success in securing peer-reviewed extramural funding), extensive experience in graduate biomedical education, proven administrative skills, and a commitment to excellence in education. Responsibilities include overall direction of the department, facilitation and enhancement of the research, teaching, and service activities of the department faculty, as well as facilitating departmental interaction with the faculties of the other School Departments, the Environmental Toxicology Research Program and the National Center for Natural Products Research. The chairperson will head a department that currently includes eleven members with primary or joint appointments and with diverse research interests in pharmacology and toxicology. The department has teaching responsibilities in several degree programs, including a B.S. in Pharmaceutical Sciences, a M.S. in Pharmaceutical Sciences, and a Ph.D. with emphasis in pharmacology or toxicology. It is likely that the new chair will have the opportunity to recruit additional full-time faculty. The desired appointment date is September 1, 2012.
