Location and team
KEMA is seeking an SVP of Marketing & Sales within the Americas Region. The SVP- M&S will provide action-oriented vision and leadership enabling the organization to continue its market leadership while achieving strategic sales, revenue, and profitability objectives. As a member of the senior management team, the SVP-M&S will work closely with decision makers in all departments to identify, recommend, develop, implement and lead profitable marketing and sales solutions for all aspects of the business.

The ideal entrepreneurial candidate will plan, coordinate, direct and design corporate marketing and sales initiatives, while providing administrative direction for the operations. The SVP-M&S should be able to enjoy performing both management and individual contributor aspects of the role, and should have a demonstrated ability to select, mentor and work well with both junior and senior staff. Reporting directly to the Managing Director of the Americas, this individual will make a significant contribution to the overall profitability and growth of the company.

This position is based in our Burlington, MA offices. Relocation assistance will be considered for non-local candidates.

Tasks may include

  • Participate and contribute substantively to Executive Team discussions and deliberations while informing marketing and sales approaches consistent with our market and service portfolios
  • Direct development and implementation of new products and programs
  • Oversee and direct the strategy and operations of the Account Management and Marketing teams
  • Influence and guide overall sales approach and methodology for enterprise-wide Business Development efforts
  • Direct implementation of sales support materials and events
  • Design, implement and lead an effective sales process
  • Keep current on trends and issues in the energy industry, including current product needs, risks and pricing. And, develop strategies to effectively communicate trends and changes in the market to the field
  • Advise, counsel, and educate executives and management on the competitive and financial impact of sales and marketing initiatives
  • Act as an advocate for KEMA's Marketing and Sales vision via regular written and in-person communication with the organization's executives, department heads, and staff
  • Establish Marketing and Sales departmental goals, objectives, operating procedures and performance measures and ensure adherence to applicable laws and regulations
  • Develop, track, and control the marketing and sales annual operating budget
  • Maintain easily understandable processes for defining and communicating timely sales analytics and metrics
  • Work collaboratively with senior consulting staff to create and manage cross-functional, integrated marketing strategies, messaging and themes to ensure that key strategic messages are communicated effectively to target audiences
  • Conduct analyses of campaigns to measure and improve campaign effectiveness; continuously track real-time metrics on campaign efficacy to modify approach on an active basis


What we're asking

  • 15+ years marketing and sales management experience in a professional services or business-to-business environment - ideally with a solid understanding of the energy and utility industry
  • MBA or Masters Degree in Marketing or related area required
  • International business experience - ideally inclusive of Central and South America
  • Demonstrable experience in effecting positive change and bottom-line impact to sales processes and sales results in a technical, business to business environment
  • Proven sales process management results
  • Strategic planning relative to marketing and sales
  • Superior relationship building capabilities - ability to work with all levels of an organization
  • Demonstrated strategic planning abilities / strong Cross-Functional team experience
  • High results orientation, driving organizational performance
  • Experience working with obtaining, maintaining, and acting strategically upon ROI metrics to continually increase revenue opportunities
  • Experience working with and guiding efforts with business development professionals to ensure that leads are acted upon and transformed to a high ratio of business success
  • Experience working with technical professionals to help articulate concepts into effective internet-optimized marketing materials
  • Very strong English written and verbal communication skills - can transform dense technical information into compelling decision information for target audience(s)
  • Excellent people and management skills to interact with staff, colleagues, cross-functional teams, and third parties
  • Product and company branding experience
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office, some knowledge of HTML, Constant Contact, content management systems
  • Superior professionalism and judgment
  • Some knowledge of energy industry preferred; prior experience in leading Marketing for a Consulting organization desirable
  • on Willingness to travel up to 50%
